Absences
Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell.
Any student who is known to have contracted a medical condition that may be infectious, contagious or otherwise harmful to health of another person at school will need to stay home and away from other students for a period of time as advised by the Executive Director of Public Health or by registered medical practitioner.
Every day your child attends school, they will learn something new so it is very important that they come to school every day when they are well. In Australia, attendance at school is compulsory from Pre-Primary onwards. Of course, there are many reasons why children may need to be absent from school occasionally. If your child is absent, please contact the school on 9771 9050. If an absence is unexplained, we will contact you. Teachers also appreciate, if possible, some notice if your child’s absence is known beforehand so that they can make adjustments to your child’s learning program.
Medication
Where a child is required to have prescribed medication during the school day, it is mandatory that your doctor provides the document “Medication Instructions from Prescribing Doctor”.
In particular circumstances permission may be obtained to have teaching staff administer medications at school.
Medications for administration should be contained in a properly labelled container and an Administration of Medication Form filled out. Please ensure the medication is delivered to the school and given directly into the care of administration.
Warren Bus Services
School Buses are contracted by the Department of Transport to provide transport for regular full time students who reside more than 4.5 kilometres from their nearest appropriate school. Transport is provided from the student’s home to school and return each day. Registration can be completed online at www.schoolbuses.wa.gov.au.
Parents wishing their child to be transported on a bus for social reasons must make their request in writing (on the necessary form available from your schools administration) to their school office at least 48 hours prior to the requested travel time. Bus drivers cannot authorise this travel.
A town bus provides service within the Manjimup town area. This bus is a privately run service and a fare is charged. For information, please contact us on 9326 2000.
School Board
The School Board’s role is to work with the principal to determine school direction, to identify and implement priorities, and to provide the best blend of educational opportunities for students at the school. The School Board is all about improving all aspects of the school, and trying to make the school as good as it can possibly be.
There is a combination of parents, community representatives and school staff on the Board. The principal is always a member, and the rest of the board members are elected for two or three year terms.
The board usually meets twice a term. There is a formal agenda with the principal running the meeting. All members have equal rights to discuss issues, and have equal voting rights. Meetings are held in the evening at 7pm and last approximately two hours. Meetings are usually held at in the Manjimup Primary School Board Room.
Beginning board members get an induction program, so that they get a general overview of school operations and board procedures. New members need only bring with them lots of enthusiasm, a preparedness to work for the betterment of the school, and a team ethic – everything else can be learned along the way.
P & C
The Manjimup Primary School and Education Support Centre P&C are combined and share the same vision and that is to foster community interest in educational matters.
MPS & MESC P&C is a dedicated, very welcoming and friendly association that makes a part of our school community. The P&C encourage positive relationships and cooperation between parents and carers of students, Principals, Teachers, Administration, the School Board and members of the school community. They are a supportive, proactive P&C that ensures the school reflects the needs of our children and school.
Everyone’s input is valued and the time of the volunteers is greatly appreciated. The P&C Association has conducted many fundraisers, school and community events that have collectively raised significant funds for the schools. In recent years the P&C has proudly purchased educational resources and contributed and funded many exciting school projects and provided improvement of facilities that you see in our wonderful school campus every day.
Many hands together can achieve great things…
You are encouraged to join the P&C Association through your journey at Manjimup Education Support Centre and meet some new people, share your ideas and have some fun!
