Community Based Learning

MESC is very fortunate to be positioned near the centre of Manjimup. This allows for many community-based learning activities to be completed. Community Based Learning is school developed and focuses on providing students with the necessary skills to navigate their community safely. Students participate in activities to develop their independence skills with protective behaviours, orientation, road awareness to access services, products and recreation facilities within the wider community.

In partnership with Variety WA, MESC has its own school bus. This allows the flexibility to provide programs and activities to our children throughout the Southwest. Our students take regular trips to regional hubs of Busselton and Bunbury.

Other Learning

Programs

A variety of short-duration and one-off activities complement the learning framework at Manjimup ESC. This includes services of Fishability via their Busselton Jetty School Program, tailored specifically for Education Support Centres to enable students to experience recreational fishing in a safe environment. The school also participates in Bunbury’s Rotary Sail into Life program which aims to provide everyone with the opportunity to experience the joy and freedom of sailing, regardless of their abilities. Students at MESC have partnered with Imperials Football club and Manjimup’s Lions Club to organise cans and bottle as part of the Containers for Change initiative.

Students in Year 1-7 attend swimming lessons at the Manjimup’s Aquatic Centre every year.
